Declaration of Independence Now Available for Every American to DocuSign

August 29 2012

TAMPA, Fla., Aug 28, 2012 -- DocuSign partners with Spirit of Liberty Foundation to Support U.S. Armed Forces Wounded Warriors, Military Families and Families of Fallen Heroes.

DocuSign, the Global Standard for eSignature®, announced today that every American can now DocuSign America's birth certificate, the Declaration of Independence, putting their signature alongside those of the founding fathers of the United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence represents one of our nation's first legally binding documents. Fifty-six patriots came together physically to negotiate the founding terms of our country and after long debate, came to agreement and signed in "wet ink." The significance of the event cannot be underplayed. Signatures from that day forward have become forever known as "John Hancocks." Now every American can DocuSign their "John Hancock" on the Declaration of Independence.

"The Declaration of Independence is one of our nation's most important documents," said Keith Krach, chairman and CEO of DocuSign. "DocuSign is proud to give every American the opportunity to show their support for freedom and our troops by signing the Declaration of Independence alongside the signatures of American icons like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Hancock."

DocuSign, in partnership with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation, is enabling every American to electronically sign and download a personal copy of the Declaration of Independence at www.docusign.com/DOI. Delegates attending the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, August 27-30, 2012, and the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 3-6, 2012 will be able to DocuSign the Declaration of Independence in person, on site at the conventions.

DocuSign and the Spirit of Liberty Foundation are committed to helping make the lives of our military families better. DocuSign is a vital tool that lets military personnel and families continue with the day-to-day business of life--enabling signatures on auto leases, apartment applications, home purchases, mortgage loans, and more--from anywhere in the world where military personnel are deployed.

"Our work at the Spirit of Liberty Foundation is driven by our desire to support our troops and their families," said Richard Rovsek, Spirit of Liberty Foundation founder and CEO. "We strive to celebrate freedom--the ideal that our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines defend each day with their lives. When we first thought of enabling every American to show their support for liberty by signing the Declaration of Independence, we immediately thought of DocuSign as the global standard for eSignature."

DocuSign is revolutionizing how business gets done, offering new freedom to hundreds of millions of consumers and businesses by eliminating the hassles, costs, and lack of security in printing, faxing, scanning, and overnighting documents to capture information, payments and signatures. With DocuSign, consumers and businesses can sign anything, anywhere, on any device.

Americans interested in DocuSigning and downloading their copy of the Declaration of Independence can visit www.docusign.com/DOI. Republican National Convention delegates interested in DocuSigning the Declaration of Independence can visit the DocuSign kiosk in space 325 on the sixth floor of the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Democratic National Convention delegates interested in DocuSigning the Declaration of Independence can do so in the main concourse at the convention.

Later this year, the Spirit of Liberty Foundation and DocuSign will announce plans for a nationwide tour to bring the Declaration of Independence and other icons of American freedom to cities and towns across America in 2013.
